homemade gummy bears

  • prep time: 15 minutes
  • chill: 10-20 mins
    • 1 cup (250mL) nudie pear, orange, pineapple, passionfruit & coconut water coco juice
    • 2 tsp agar agar powder * (see notes)
    • Optional: 1-2 tbsp maple syrup, for extra sweetness
    1. In a small saucepan, add in the juice and agar agar and whisk well. Simmer over low to medium for 5 minutes while whisking continuously. Set aside and let the mixture cool down for 5-10 minutes.
    2. Using the dropper, fill your moulds with the mixture. Leave to set at room temperature for about 20 minutes, or transfer in the fridge and set for 10 minutes.
    3. Pop the gummy bears out of the mould and store into an airtight jar or container in the refrigerator.
    4. NOTES:
      – Use agar agar powder, not flakes
      – Since these are made using agar agar and not gelatine, they will not be chewy and will have more of a jelly-like texture. You can reduce the agar agar to 1.5 tsp for a softer texture or use a touch more agar agar for a firmer texture. You can also  experiment with pectin to get a better chewier gummy texture (if it’s accessible to you).
